Cops: DUI driver failed to stop after hitting parked cars
James Rafferty, 48, of Forest Avenue, was charged on a warrant Saturday with operating under the influence, failure to drive right and evading responsibility.
The warrant arrest stems from an accident last Dec. 6 when he struck a parked car on Reef Road and, according to police, did not stop. Rafferty continued driving, first onto Veres Street and then to Longdean Road where he struck a second parked car, police said.
When officers arrived on the scene, according to the report, Rafferty had a small cut on his forehead and was dazed, with dilated pupils. He had difficulty answering questions and slurred his words, police said.
He was released on a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear March 10 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
