A man who rear-ended a car, triggering a four-vehicle, chain-reaction collision on Kings Highway East around 5:30 p.m. Monday, was hospitalized after a bizarre reaction to the crash, police said.

The man, whose identity was not released, was found by officers lying on the roof of his vehicle, incoherent and unable to answer questions. He did not have a visible injuries and was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.

According to the report, the man was driving west on Kings Highway East near Jennings when he hit a car stopped for a red traffic light. The impact pushed that car into the car ahead of it, which also hit the car in front of it. None of the other drivers reported any injuries, police said.

Police went to St. Vincent's later to interview the man, but he was still incoherent, according to the report. The accident remains under investigation.
