Julia Longley, 29, of Bridgeport, and Kelly Ryan, 29, of Roselle Street, were each charged with breach of peace around 2 a.m. Tuesday after a night out, police said.

The acquaintances were driving in separate cars back to Longley's home when Ryan suddenly turned and drove in the direction of her home, police said. Apparently upset, Longley followed her home, police said, and an argument escalated into pushing, spitting and hitting, according to the report.

At one point, Ryan was pushed, fell back and struck her head on the pavement, police said. She was treated for the injury at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Both women were released on promises to appear later Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
