A Bridgeport man, found sleeping in his car that ended up on a Grasmere Avenue snowbank, was charged early Saturday with driving under the influence.

Orlando Delgado, 23, of Dayton Road, Bridgeport, was also charged with failure to drive right and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.

A Grasmere Avenue resident called police just before 2 a.m. Saturday to report the car atop a snowbank. She said the driver had gotten out of the car, was walking around and then got back in the driver's seat.

When police arrived, the car's engine was running, the headlights were on and the front bumper had fallen off the vehicle. Delgado, the report states, was asleep, reclining in the driver's seat. Officers woke up Delgado, and said there was a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He was unsteady on his feet getting out of the car, and failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.

A small packet of marijuana was found on the car's floor, police said.

At police headquarters, Delgado refused to submit to a breath test, according to the report. He was released on a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear March 11 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
