Naser Arnaout, 49, of Kings Highway East, was charged Thursday with risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct after police said he struck his 11-year-old son, causing bruising to the boy's face and shoulder.

Police were contacted about the incident by the state Department of Children and Families. According to the police report, Arnaout said he and his son were arguing over the son's behavior in school and the boy slammed the door in his face.

Arnaout was released on a promise to appear last Friday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
