An Easton man faces drug charges after police said he left a bag of PCP in a returned rental car.

Matthew Gromiller, 40, of Bayberry Lane, was charged with the illegal manufacture, distribution or sale of prescription drugs, possession of hallucinogens, possession of narcotics and possession of a controlled substance. He was held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear June 30 in Bridgeport Superior Court.

Gromiller returned a rental car to Hertz on the Post Road last Thursday in such a filthy condition that Hertz employees took the vehicle to a car wash to be cleaned. It was there they discovered a plastic bag with a white powder in the car that later tested positive for PCP, police said. While investigating, police discovered Gromiller was staying at the Fairfield Motor Inn and charged him there. During a search of the room, police said they found additional narcotics.

Gromiller's companion, Ana M. Kurowski, 41, of Tunxis Hill Road, was charged on a warrant from the Connecticut State Police for failure to appear.
