A 28-year-old Chestnut Street man was arrested Thursday night after police said he shoved his girlfriend's 9-year-old son to the ground.

When police arrived at the house Jonalvin Grullon had left, and the child was crying and shaking. Grullon was located by officers walking on Kings Highway and taken into custody. The child was taken to an area hospital for treatment of emotional distress.

Grullon was charged with risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. During his arrest, he was found to have a small amount of marijuana and was issued an infraction for possession.

He was held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to have appeared Friday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
