Cops: Man charged again after hitting girlfriend
Fairfielder Michael Briganti, 44, was charged a second time within a week Saturday after police said he punched his girlfriend in the head.
Briganti was picked up by police Monday in connection with the incident in which he grabbed his girlfriend's arm and pulled her by the hair during an argument, according to the report.
On Saturday, police had received a call around 1:45 a.m. from a witness who said he saw Briganti punch the woman while she was sitting in her car on Ash Street near their Dalewood Avenue home. The witness said the victim screamed and backed the car down Ash Street and drove away, police said. She was found by police on Grasmere Avenue, with her face red and swollen, according to the report.
Briganti was charged with breach of peace and violation of a protective order.
He was held on a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear July 16 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
