Cops: Man charged with false report of hit-and-run crash

A Bridgeport man was arrested on a warrant last Wednesday in connection with a hit-and-run accident in the Sacred Heart University parking lot.

Kevin Campos, 22, of Old Town Road in Bridgeport, was charged with evading responsibility and second-degree falsely reporting an accident.

According to police, Campos backed out of a parking space on Aug. 31, hitting a parked vehicle that ended up being pushed into another car. Campos allegedly picked up parts of his car that fell off during the accident and left the scene.

He returned later, with his mother, and parked his car in another parking lot and called 911 to report that his car had been hit, according to the report.

Bond was set at $100 and he is scheduled to appear Oct. 13 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
