Christopher Sanchez was arrested at state Superior Court in Bridgeport last Wednesday and charged with stealing a bicycle in town last April.

The bike’s owner saw the $1,500 Trek bicycle offered for sale on Ebay for $880. The offer was posted by East Main Jewelry and Pawn Shop in Bridgeport, and the owner provided police with the pawn slip. The pawn slip led invetigators to Sanchez, 35, of Morgan Avenue, Bridgeport.

Sanchez was charged with fourth-degree larceny and held on a $10,000 bond. He was arraigned later that day.

Meanwhile, a Longellow Avenue man called police the next day to report that three dirt bikes had been stolen from his garage overnight.

Police had received a call around 2 a.m. from another Longfellow resident about a man walking a red dirt bike down the street. He yelled at the man to stop, but instead the man kick started the dirt bike and drove off.

Police spotted the man but he took off toward Bridgeport, and that city’s police were notified.

The three bikes are worth a total of $1,200, accord to the report.
