After being stopped for allegedly speeding Saturday, Albert Smith, 32, of Nash Lane, Bridgeport, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Smith was stopped Saturday morning around 8:45 a.m. Saturday, traveling over 55 mph in a 35 mph zone on Stratfield Road, according to the report. The officer who stopped Smith could smell the odor of marijuana, and Smith allegedly admitted to smoking pot at home and was headed to a friend's house, according to the report. After police said they found five small bags of marijuana in the car, Smith allegedly admitted that he sold pot to his friends and was on his way to make a transaction, according to the report.

Smith was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and given a verbal warning for speeding.

He was released on a promise to appear Oct. 6 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
