Cops: Shoplifting suspect tried to switch old shoes for new boots
A 45-year-old Reef Road man was charged Sunday with shoplifting at Bob’s Store after police said he tried to switch the old shoes he was wearing and leave the store with a new pair of boots — without paying.
Mark M. Turlis walked into the Post Road store, took off the shoes he was wearing and put them into a shoe box, according to the report. He then put on the boots, valued at $202, that were in the box and tried to walk out of the store without paying, police said, but was stopped by employees.
Turlis was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear Oct. 20 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
