Cops: Three phony $100s passed at downtown businesses
Police are investigating a report that a man passed two counterfeit $100 bills Tuesday at Sweet Rexie's candy store on the Post Road.
According to the report, a man described by police as black, medium height, with yellow crooked teeth and wearing a big "puffy" jacket, came into the store and made a $10 purchase with a $100 bill. After receiving his change, he walked around the store a bit more, and again bought $10 worth of candy with another $100. Both bills later proved to be fake, police said.
Police said the incident may be connected to one the previous day at Archie Moore's restaurant on Sanford Street. A man, described as white, short and with facial hair, bought $11 worth of food for takeout and paid with a fake $100 bill.
