A Lindley Drive woman has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with a September 2011 accident on Black Rock Turnpike that claimed the life of a Massachusetts motorcyclist.

Carla Zandonella, 53, turned surrendered at Police Department headquarters Friday night after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to obey a traffic-control signal.

Nathan Stebbins, 26, of Ludlow, Mass., was driving his motorcycle south on Black Rock Turnpike around 11 p.m. Sept. 22 when he was struck by Zandonella's BMW, police said. Zandonella was pulling onto Black Rock Turnpike from Congress Street at the time of the crash, police said.

The traffic light at the time of the accident was flashing red on Congress Street, requiring vehicles to make a full stop, and flashing yellow for both the north- and southbound traffic on Black Rock Turnpike.

Stebbins was in cardiac arrest when emergency personnel arrived at the scene.

Zandonella was released on a promise to appear April 5 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
