Police are looking for a black Labrador-mix dog and its owner after a woman reported that she was bitten Saturday while walking on Penfield Beach.

The woman, who reported the dog bite Sunday, said she was walking on the beach around noon near the high-water mark not far from the Fairfield Beach Club. The dog, which was unleashed, ran up to her and started jumping on her. Although the dog's owner called to it, the dog circled the woman and jumped up again, bitting at her arms.

She said she didn't discover the three puncture wounds from the animal's teeth until after she left the area.

According to the report, the owner called the dog "Pippa," but no black lab-mixes named "Pippa" could be found in local dog license records. The owner was described as a white woman in her 40s or 50s, wearing a black puffer jacket, white knit hat and sunglasses.

Animal control officers would like to locate the dog owner to verify that it has had its rabies vaccine. If anyone has any information about the incident, they are asked to call 203-254-4857.
