A Fairfield husband and wife struck by a car on Commerce Drive last Friday night remained hospitalized early this week.

James Joseph Landers, 57, and Jeannette Stellato, 63, who live on Harris Street, were walking across Commerce Drive from Master Electric Supply to Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana about 7:49 p.m. Friday when a car operated by Chourouk Abourazzouk, 32, of Camden Street, turned onto Commerce Drive and struck the couple, police said.

Police said Landers and Stellato were in the intensive-care Unit of St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport on Monday.

Abourazzouk hadn't been charged as of late Monday morning.

Police said the stretch of Commerce Drive where the accident occurred is very dark at night, and that Landers and Stellato were wearing dark clothing.

Stellato suffered a collapsed lung and broken ribs and Landers had a head injury, according to the report.
