A Stratford couple is accused of shoplifting tools at Home Depot stores Saturday with their 4-year-old daughter in tow.

John Papin, 31, of London Terrace, and Kelly Gray, 29, of Broadbridge Avenue, were both charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and risk of injury to a minor. Papin was also charged with possession of narcotics.

Police said Papin walked out of the local Home Depot around 12:44 p.m. Saturday with a $349 Dewalt nail gun, police said. Gray admitted to police that she had taken a drill and two saws earlier from the Stratford Home Depot, according to the report. Those tools were found in the trunk of the couple's car.

The 4-year-old child's grandmother, who police said has full custody of the youngster, was called to pick her up. While in the security office at Home Depot, Papin asked if he could take his medication, and took out a suboxone film, for which he could not produce a prescription, police said.

Both were released on a promise to appear Feb. 13 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
