DOT: Tractor-trailer crash cleared on I-95 in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — Traffic on Interstate 95 northbound was backed up for hours Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer crashed down an embankment off the side of the highway.

The state Department of Transportation reported the crash around 10 a.m. between exits 19 and 21. The agency said traffic was backed up between exits 18 and 21.

By 1 p.m., the truck had been cleared from the scene and the highway’s right lane had reopened to traffic.

There was no immediate word on possible injuries.
