Hector Gonzalez, 29, of Bridgeport, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to obey a traffic signal shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.
Gonzalez was driving south on Chambers Street when an officer allegedly saw him nearly drive onto the sidewalk and hit a building. Gonzalez also failed to stop for a flashing red traffic light at the intersection of Chambers Street and Commerce Drive, according to police. He took a left onto Commerce Drive and was pulled over soon after. Gonzalez, who allegedly had an odor of alcohol on his breath, failed his field sobriety testing.
He was released on $100 bond and is scheduled to make an appearance Aug. 9 at Bridgeport Superior Court.
