DUI at Fairfield McDonald's drive-thru, cops say
Police were alerted to a woman suspected of driving drunk Monday night when the 22-year-old went to the drive-thru window at the McDonald's at the Post Road traffic circle.
Maggie Fitzgerald, of French Street, was later charged with driving under the influence and released on a $100 bond.
Police said Fitzgerald drove to the drive-through window around 7 p.m. In the back seat of the car was another woman, who was apparently passed out. Asked if her passenger needed help, Fitzgerald sped off, according to police, who received two phone calls from concerned witnesses.
Fitzgerald was found in the parking lot at the South Benson Marina, where she failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. Her passenger was taken home by a friend.
