DUI charge after pedestrian struck by vehicle
FAIRFIELD — Police suspect the woman who hit a jogger early Tuesday morning was driving under the influence.
Nina Engstrom, 61, was charged with DUI and failure to grant the right of way to a pedestrian after she hit a man who was jogging, facing traffic, on Burr Street just before 6 a.m.
The jogger, Andrew Lewis, 56, of Fairfield, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries. Engstrom, who lives on Burr Street, was not injured in the accident.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into the accident.
