A downtown fitness studio plans to mark its first anniversary in business with a fundraising workout on Saturday, Jan. 14, to benefit Fairfield's homeless.
Momentum Fitness, which specializes in dance- and yoga-based workouts, said it has planned a two-hour event with 11 instructors at its 1499 Post Road studio, below the Fairfield University Bookstore and Victoria's Secret.
The fundraiser is scheduled from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and the cost is $10 for all participants. The studio said all proceeds would benefit Operation Hope, which runs homeless shelters and supportive housing in town, a community kitchen and food pantry.
Momentum Fitness opened a year ago offering various Zumba dance workouts, Yogalates -- a blend of yoga and pilates -- and the studio's own Be Fit Boot Camp, owner Nathalia Ferreira said.
During its first year, Momentum has nearly doubled its dance floor, from an initial 1,300 square feet to 2,400 square feet and has increased its roster of instructors from three to nine, Ferreira said.
