With temperatures cresting over 60 degrees Tuesday, despite the lowering skies heavy with rain clouds, it was a little hard to remember that the first day of winter is just about a month away.

Some Fairfielders took advantage of the balmy temperatures to get outdoor chores done or just enjoyed the unseasonable warmth -- before a few raindrops fell.

All this activity was normally associated with the beginning of fall, not the approach of winter. But, then, it's not supposed to snow before Halloween either.

Anyway, more of the same warm but wet weather mix is likely Wednesday, with cooler temperatures as skies clear later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
