Dog suffers leg injury after car incident in Fairfield Friday afternoon

FAIRFIELD — A dog was injured in a motor vehicle incident Friday afternoon, according to the Fairfield Fire Department.

The car, containing two dogs in the front seat, was traveling west of Post Road when it struck the rear box of a tractor trailer, the fire department said.

Officials said the collision may have caused one of the dogs to hit the windshield, causing a facial laceration and leg injuries. Both dogs may have also suffered internal injuries and the driver had minor injuries, the fire department said.

The fire department called for animal control to transport the dog to a nearby veterinary hospital.

No further details about the incident were immediately available Friday evening.
