Doggone, wave of pooches hits the beach

Every dog can now have its day at the town’s beaches.

And horses (!) too.

Through next March 31, that is.

But it’s not as though Bowser and Fifi ... or Trigger ... can just run wild, like the waves and the wind, along the shoreline.

As has been traditional, the ban on animals at the town’s beaches — in effect from April 1 through Sept. 30 — was lifted as of Oct. 1, but regulations still apply to pets and their owners.

Among the primary rules are:

Dogs at the beaches must be leashed at all times, except at Jennings Beach, and there they must be “under control” of their owners.

At all times of the year, animals are prohibited from beach boardwalks, pavilions and playgrounds.

The person who brings a dog or horse to the beach must clean up after their animal while they are still on the premises.
