Doris Carol (Pleune) Holzberger, 84, of Fairfield and formerly of Glen Rock, N.J., wife of Herbert Holzberger for more than 62 years, died April 4.

Born Oct. 19, 1926, in Paterson, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Antonie and Petrenella (Trine Breen) Pleune. She graduated from the Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. She was also member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She was a longtime member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glen Rock, N.J.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her children, Edward K. Holzberger and his wife, Pamela, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dr. Carol A. Callahan of Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Michael, Elizabeth, Kevin, Cara, Connor and Byron; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Possien of Virginia Beach, Va. She was predeceased by a brother, Martin Pleune; a sister, Claire Gierisch, and a grandson, John Edward Holzberger.

Friends are invited to visit the family at their home on Wednesday, April 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, with Pastor Roger Spencer officiating, at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Fair Lawn, N.J.
