Dorothy Starzyk, 87, of Fairfield and formerly of Bridgeport, died Aug. 31, 2010, at the Ludlowe Health Care Center in Fairfield.

Born Sept. 28, 1922, in Springfield, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Antonia Starzyk. She spent the first five years of her life in the Springfield/Chicopee area of Massachusetts, then moved with her family to the Stratfield area of Fairfield. She resided there until 1943 when she moved to Bridgeport, where she lived for most of her life. Until the 1960s, she worked at Sikorsky Aircraft as the secretary to the general manager and then worked at Pepperidge Farm until her retirement in the 1980s.

She liked to spend time at Compo Beach in Westport, Seaside Park in Bridgeport and Marnick's in the Lordship section of Stratford, as well as traveling to Vermont and New Hampshire.

Survivors include a sister, Eugenia Reale and her husband Art of Westport; a brother, Michael Starzyk and his wife Galy of Westport; seven nieces, and a nephew. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Mary Starzyk, Cecelia Claire and Adonia Starzyk, and a brother, Stanley Starzyk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., Westport. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery on Greens Farms Road in Westport. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport.
