Joseph Barnett, 25, of Hillside Road, was charged with driving under the influence Tuesday night after he struck the back of Greater Bridgeport Transit bus.
Barnett was driving east on the Post Road around 11 p.m. Tuesday when he rear-ended a bus stopped at a bus stop at 536 Post Road, according to the report. There were no passengers on the bus at the time, but people were preparing to board when the accident happened.
Barnett told police he was driving in the center lane when another motorist cut him off, causing him to veer into the back of the bus. Police said Barnett admitted to drinking two beers earlier, and failed field sobriety tests.
He was released on a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear March 2 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
