Driver faces DUI charge for fiery Congress Street crash
Jeffrey Carron, 22, of Sky Top Drive, was arrested Thursday in connection with a fiery single-car accident last December.
Carron was charged on a warrant with driving under the influence and failure to drive right.
According to the report, Carron was driving west on Congress Street when he drove off the roadway, hitting two stone walls and a tree. When officers arrived, the front of the car was engulfed in flames, but Carron was found out of the car and on the ground. At first, he told officers there were three passengers in the car, and firefighters searched the car and surrounding woods but could not find anyone, police said. Carron later told police he was alone in the car, according to the report.
Immediately after the accident, Carron was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.
He was released on a promise to appear Feb. 2 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
