Driver faces drug charges after Fairfield traffic stop
A traffic stop for a cracked windshield and broken driver-side mirror led to drug charges being lodged against Jorge Lopes, 20, of Hawley Avenue, Bridgeport, about 9 p.m. Saturday.
When Lopez rolled down his window, police said there was a strong odor of marijuana. When his car was searched, six bags of marijuana, two bags of hollowed out cigars and a portable digital scale were found, police said.
He was charged with possession of marijuana, manufacture and sale of a restricted substance, use and possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of alcohol by a minor.
Lopez was held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Sept. 27 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
