Driver slides, snaps off utility pole

Mohammed Maula, 18, of Berner Terrace, Milford, was ticketed after the car he was driving slid on an icy patch, went airborne and snapped off a utility pole Monday.
According to the report, Maula was driving south on Brookside Drive, and after turning onto Hill Farm Road, the car slid on ice. The vehicle slid about 90 feet before becoming airborne, police said, struck the pole and landed on the driver's side.
Maula complained of pain in his right arm, but declined medical treatment. The report stated that Maula said he was driving about 35 mph when the accident happened. The posted speed limit is 25 mph.
He was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
