FAIRFIELD — An officer on his way to work Monday morning stopped a woman who was driving in the breakdown lane southbound on Interstate 95 near exit 24.
Shanelle Johnson, 35, said she was using the breakdown lane because she was feeling lightheaded and dizzy. An ambulance was called and Johnson was evaluated. She declined to be taken to the hospital.
Instead, Johnson, of Mary Avenue, Stratford, was taken to police headquarters and booked on two outstanding warrants for failure to appear. One warrant was from the Trumbull Police Department for a third-degree larceny charge, and the other was from Connecticut State Police Troop G for a reckless driving charge.
Johnson was held on bonds totaling $25,500 and was scheduled to be arraigned in state Superior Court in Bridgeport that same day.
She was also issued a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.
