A memorial mass for Edward J. Kochan Jr., who died Dec. 22, 2009, at his home in Easton, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, at Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton. Interment will be private.

He was born on Oct. 10, 1950, in St. Vincent's Hospital, Bridgeport, to Anna E. Kochan and the late Dr. Edward J. Kochan. His grandparents were the late John and Julia Kochan and Phillip and Linda Epifano of Fairfield.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two brothers and their families, Dr. Jeffrey Kochan and his wife, Dr. Polly, and their sons, Michael and Andrew, and Kenneth Kochan and his wife, Phyllis, and their children, Matthew and Kristen.

A graduate of Joel Barlow High School and later from Bullard Haven Technical School, Kochan attended Housatonic Community College. He was a long-time employee of the E & F Construction Co. and The Security Building, both of Bridgeport, and Cushman and Wakefield of Connecituct.

Kochan was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 77, and was a certified vessel examiner. He served on the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Committee as well as The Fairfield civilian firefighters.
