Edward J. Slade Jr., 54, of Fairfield, the husband of Sharon Shaw Slade, died July 7 at home.

Born June 12, 1957, in Heidelberg, Germany, he was the son of Col. Edward J. Slade and the late Laura C. Slade. He grew up in Merion, Pa., and graduated from Pennsylvania State University, where he played Division I tennis. He and his wife were married at St. Timothy's Church in Fairfield and lived in town more than 20 years.

He was an entrepreneurial executive who built and led several American brands and organizations. In recent years, he co-founded O Water and, more recently, founded and served as chief executive officer of Twelve Beverages. Prior to O Water, he was president and chief operating officer of FIJI Water. Earlier in his career, he was named one of America's 100 top marketing executives for his work at Group Danone/Evian.

He was an avid golfer and tennis player, a member of the Board of Governors of the Country Club of Fairfield and previously served as a council member of the Fairfield Beach Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife and father, include his sons, William Charles Slade and Andrew Edward Slade; a sister, Sandra Mossbrook of Riverton, Wyo., and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 12 in Southport Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Edward J. Slade Fund for Faculty Development at Fairfield Country Day School, 2970 Bronson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
