Elmer Ondy of Trumbull, husband of the late Elizabeth Kiraly Ondy, died Nov. 17, 2010, at St. Vincent's Medical Center, two days before his 89th birthday.

Born in Trenton, N.J., he was a Fairfield resident for many years before moving to Trumbull 12 years ago. He owned his own plumbing company in the Fairfield and Bridgeport area for many years.

Ondy was a longtime active member of the United Church of Christ, where he was a past church elder. He belonged to the St. John Fidelity Lodge No. 3 Masonic Order and the Shriners.

In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Edward Ondy and his wife, Mary-Ann of Milford; his daughter, Liz Cook and her husband, Ted of Fairfield, who faithfully had him over for dinner every Sunday; his daughter-in-law, Gail Ondy of Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Heather Ondy-Villar and her husband, Rob of Fairfield, Chad Ondy and his wife, Connie, and Eric Ondy, all of Newtown, Ryan Ondy of Bridgeport, Bethany Cook of Stamford and Alex Ondy of Milford; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ondy was predeceased by his son, Elmer D. Ondy, and his sisters, Matilda Hozjan and Ethel Sharpe.

Funeral services will take place Friday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ, Bridgeport; burial will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery. Calling hours took place Thursday in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield; a Masonic Rite was celebrated at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ondy's name to the United Church of Christ.
