Emergency team surrounds Southport house after gun-threat report
A Harbor Road man was charged with disorderly conduct Saturday evening after he threatened to commit suicide while holding a gun in the presence of his wife and 16-year-old daughter, police said. The threats prompted members of the Emergency Services Unit to be called to the scene, and police roped off a perimeter around the house.
They said the wife and daughter had left the house and called police. After about one-half hour later, police said Christopher Tors, 65, left the home on his own and was taken into custody. The handgun, which was not loaded, was seized, along with several other "weapons and knives" from the home.
After being charged, Tors was released on a $5,000 bond and taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport for an evaluation. He was scheduled to have appeared Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
