Fairfield Library's Bruce S. Kershner Gallery will show "Enlightened," an exhibit of the art of Mark Schiff and Geoffrey Detrani Sunday, Nov. 20, to Saturday, Dec. 31, in the gallery, 1080 Old Post Road. A reception with a talk by the artists will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

Detrani, a teacher in New Haven and also a writer whose poetry has appeared in many publications, is a contributing writer for the New Haven Advocate. His art books are in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

His paintings have been exhibited in New York, Los Angles, Boston and South Korea, and are in the collections of the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Schenectady Museum, the Transportation Security Administration, and in various private collections. In 1999, he was an artist in residence at the World Trade Center.

Schiff, a Trumbull resident and a dentist in Bridgeport, has taken art courses at Silvermine Guild and at other area facilities. His watercolors have been exhibited at Silvermine, the Carriage Barn in New Canaan, Easton Arts Society, Westport Downtown Merchants Association and Westport Arts Festival. He is the recipient of several art awards and is a member of the American Watercolors Society.
