Fairfield Theatre Company's third annual benefit golf tournament raised $50,000 for the downtown, nonprofit music and theater venue, FTC officials announced.

More than 125 golfers played at the Patterson Club on June 16 for a day of golf, food and music -- the number of golfers and money raised were records for the event.

"Our annual golf outing was sold out, we actually had to turn a few people away," said Brad Purcell, FTC board president. "We were lucky to get perfect weather and a happy and generous crowd."

An auction augmented the net proceeds, FTC said. Items included the use of luxury homes in Park City, Utah, and Turks and Caicos; tickets for a Yankees vs. Red Sox game; tickets to a John Mayer concert; a pair of season passes to all FTC shows, and golf outings at Bulls Bridge in Litchfield and the National Golf Links in Southampton, N.Y.

Next year's tournament is scheduled for June 11.
