Fairfield Public Library will host poet Annette Basalyga in an informal talk of fellow writers at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Writers' Room at the main library, 1080 Old Post Road.

She will also hold a reading from her newly published book of poems, "Lifer" at 7 p.m. on April 18, in the Memorial Room.

Basaylga was a fellow at the University of Iowa's Writers Workshop, where she received that university's Academy of American Poets' Prize and a master of fine arts degree in poetry. She has taught at the University of Puerto Rico, in the New York City public school system, at Penn State University's Worthington campus and as lecturer of distinction at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and periodicals.

Advance registration is required due to limited space. All programs at the library are free of charge.
