Fairfield Police: No assault at nursing home

FAIRFIELD — A police investigation into a possible sexual assault at a local nursing home this weekend found there was no evidence of an assault.

Staff at RegalCare at Southport, 930 Mill Hill Terrace, contacted police Sunday morning after they saw a male resident walking out of a female resident’s room. After a staff member checked on the 76-year-old woman, they said one side of her adult diaper had come undone.

Police spoke with the man and his social worker. He said he was walking back from breakfast and wanted to say hello to the woman. He said he waved hello and left.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and the police determined that, at this time, they do not believe anything criminal occurred.
