FAIRFIELD — A 40-year-old Parkwood Road resident is facing multiple charges after police said she grabbed her mother’s purse and left her 15-month-old child home alone Sunday afternoon while she went out to buy drugs.

Colleen Sheehy was charged with third-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, risk of injury to a child, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct.

There had been an ongoing argument that day between Sheehy and her mother, according to the police report, and Sheehy kept asking her mother for money. At one point, her mother was getting out of her car when Sheehy ran up, forcibly grabbed her purse away, and ran into the house. Sheehy’s mother left and called police.

Sheehy took $20 found in the purse and left the house, leaving her child unattended in the crib. A sister of Sheehy’s, who also lives at the house, came home and found the child screaming and crying, and her sister not there.

When Sheehy returned, police found she had marijuana, crack cocaine, and smoking paraphernalia. She was held on a $2,500 bond and was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Monday.
