"I thought he played a very solid game," Unker said. "He's going to be huge for us this year."

Prep will need to continue to get this depth and dominance from its squad when the new year begins. The Jesuits finished a trip to Woonsocket, R.I. for the Mount St. Charles tournament. Prep will take on SCC rival ND-West Haven on Jan. 5 and then two-time defending Division I champion Hamden on Jan. 8.

"I think we're pretty fast," Sather said. "If we keep passing the puck, we're going to get better."

Unker thinks that the 3-0 start thus far for the Jesuits is the proper beginning for a team on a mission. Prep has not won a state title since 2008, and lost to Hamden in the final last year.

"I think we all have in the back of our mind winning the state championship," Unker said "We're trying to just get better every day."

Despite Prep's dominance over Notre Dame in the teams' first contest on Wednesday, Sather realizes that the Lancers squad is one that is growing. He expects a different outcome when the teams meet up again on Feb. 12 in Bridgeport.

"No question about it," Sather said when asked if the rematch would be different. "I know later in the year it'll be a lot closer."
