The holiday spirit of giving prevailed as the Fairfield Rotary Club recently awarded community grants totaling nearly $25,000 to more than 20 recipients.

The grants, made possible by the Rotary’s fundraising over the past year, were presented to 22 individuals and civic organizations, based on their applications to the club.

The grant recipients included:

Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust, Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Bridgeport YMCA, Buddy Mentor program, CLASP Homes, Connecticut Food Bank, Connecticut Symphonic Winds and the Discovery Museum.

Also, the town’s Bigelow Center for Senior Activities, Fairfield Museum and History Center, Hopital Albert Schweitzer/Haiti, International Institute of Connecticut, Lifebridge Community Services, Literacy Volunteers of Greater Bridgeport and Mercy Learning Center.

And, Operation Hope, St. Catherine’s Academy and School Volunteers Association.
