The Fairfield University Orchestra will perform a holiday concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in the school's Gonzaga Auditorium, 1073 North Benson Road.

The program, part of the school's 2011-12 Arts & Minds season, will include the "Santa Claus Symphony," featuring Fairfield University President Jeffrey P. von Arx as guest narrator.

"The Santa Claus Symphony" was composed in 1853 by William Henry Fry. The university's orchestra will be the first orchestra to perform the work with narration, according to a release from the university. Other works on the program include "Overture to Miracle on 34th Street," by Bruce Broughton, "Air from Orchestral Suite #3," by Johann Sebastian Bach and Grieg's "Lyric Suite."

The conductor will be Jamie Ratcliffe.
