When it comes to hip hop, Fairfield Warde High School's dance team is tops in New England.

The Mustangs squad topped a field of 10 dance teams to capture the New England High School Dance Tournament's Hip Hop Division championship in Braintree, Mass., on March 7.

Warde edged runner up Branford High School by a quarter-point, 277 to 276.75, for the hip hop crown.

In the championships at Braintree High School in Massachusetts, other squads competed in jazz and pom divisions.

Warde is coached by Jennifer Kealey and won its second consecutive state championship Feb. 28 at Hamden High School.
