Fairfield couple charged with false report of home burglary
A husband and wife have been charged with falsely reporting a burglary at their Garden Drive home.
The alleged burglary was reported April 25, but police said there were no signs of forced entry. Reported stolen in the incident was a $900 42-inch television set, a Nintendo Wii worth $400, a $250 audio system and a $60 DVD player.
Following an investigation, police determined the break-in had been staged as an attempt to collect insurance money.
Both Diurnos were held on $5,000 bonds. Amanda Diurno, who turned herself in at police headquarters Thursday, is scheduled to appear June 15 in Bridgeport Superior Court, while Mario Diurno, who turned himself in Friday afternoon, has a court date of June 21.
