Dirk Finlay, 23, of 180 Penfield Road, was charged around 2 a.m. Saturday with driving under the influence after police said he damaged public and private property, and leaving tire marks behind that led police to his home.

He drove over the curb at the northwest corner of Quincy Street and Lalley Boulevard and struck a stop sign, police said, and then continued north, damaging 100 yards of lawn. Officers caught up with Finlay near his home, but he did not pull over when first signaled to, but continued into his driveway.

He also was charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive right.

He was released on $100 bond and is scheduled to appear Sept. 19 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
