Fairfield forecast: A sunny prelude to a wet weekend

The weekend forecast looks gloomy again, so enjoy the prospect of a bright break today in this showery April.
Skies should be sunny across southwestern Connecticut today, with a daytime high temperature of about 56 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. It will be breezy, with a west wind 14 to 17 mph, gusting at times to between 22 and 25 mph.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 35 degrees and a north wind between 8 and 17 mph.
Tomorrow should be partly sunny, the NWS says, with a high near 51 degrees. The winds will be calmer, from the north about 9 mph, then becoming south.
Rain is expected to move in late tomorrow and overnight. Skies will be cloudy with a low temperature of about 41.
Saturday should be rainy, with a high temperature of 53 degrees under cloudy skies. New rainfall amounts between one-quarter and one-half inch are possible.
More showers are likely Saturday night, mainly before midnight. The temperature will change little, falling only to about 50 degrees.
And on Sunday, the weather services predicts there is a chance for more showers. The high temperature may reach about 60 degrees.
