Fairfield forecast: Clear & cooler trend takes hold

The sticky, unsettled weather that enveloped southwestern Connecticut through the Labor Day weekend has given way to cooler, clear weather early today -- a pleasant pattern expected to hold through the rest of the week.
The National Weather Service says that skies today will be sunny, with a daytime high temperature about 80 degrees. There will be a west wind 6 to 13 mph.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low temperature in the upper-50s and a west wind 3 to 5 mph.
Tomorrow will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature in the mid-70s. Night skies also will be clear with the temperature dipping to a low in the mid-40s.
Friday should be sunny, with a high temperature about 70 degrees. Nighttime will be mostly clear, with a low temperature about 50 degrees.
Saturday also will be sunny, with a high temperature in the mid-70s. It will be partly cloudy Saturday night, with a low temperature about 60 degrees.
The outlook for Sunday, according to the weather service, is sunny and temperatures in the 70s.
