Fairfield forecast: Severe storms possible
Rain and thunderstorms -- some severe -- are possible this afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service warns.
In a "hazardous weather outlook" for southwestern Connecticut, the NWS says the storms have the potential for torrential rain and damaging winds, which could trigger flash flooding.
The likelihood of storms erupting is greatest after 5 p.m. to about 10 p.m., the weather service says.
Otherwise, skies today will be cloudy and the daytime high temperature will rise to the low-80s.
Tonight, while storm conditions prevail, it will be cloudy and the temperature will drop to a low of about 70 degrees.
The sun will emerge tomorrow, the NWS says, and skies will be clear throughout the day as the temperature rises to a high of about 89 degrees. Tomorrow night should be clear with a low of 69 degrees.
Sunday will be sunny, with a high near 83 degrees. Nighttime will be clear with a low of about 68 degrees.
Monday's forecast is the same: Mostly sunny with a high near 83 degrees.
